New York States is the second largest apple producing state in the USA so it comes as no surprise that the apple is the state's official fruit. Fall is an amazing time to visit the 1000 Islands, take in the beautiful colors and visit local orchards to enjoy freshly picked New York State apples for yourself!
Some orchards in the region are also cranking up their cider presses and filling up their jugs with sweet cider for all to enjoy. Burrville Cider Mill, in particular, is worth a visit for apple lovers and history buffs alike! Built as a saw mill and grist mill in 1801, not only is Burrville Cider Mill one of Jefferson County's oldest establishments, it has been a historic landmark and family tradition for several generations:

Of course, nothing goes with apple cider better than an apple cider donut, and many of these places have their own bake shops (and gift shops!) and special fall events.
